This web site
is intended for the sole use of the beneficiaries of the
late Bruce Laney Gilbert.
Bruce Gilbert was born in Fraserburg Ontario, one of eleven
children of John and Margaret [nee Andison] Gilbert.
He did his primary schooling in Bracebridge and continued
some of his secondary schooling in Parry Sound. Upon graduation
of school Bruce got a Job with The Stedmans chain of stores.
He moved up through the ranks from floor clerk to supervisor
to store manager.
|
Bruce had many
moves through out his carrier, working in Cambridge London
and a move to British Columbia. Bruce came upon an opportunity
to have his own store in Englehart in Northern Ontario.
Here he expanded his operation adding more square feet
of store space, adding apartments above, and loaning funds
for mortgages and loans.
|
After experiencing
spectacular fire in the late 1980's Bruce lost his
building and business. He proceeded to rebuild and
sell off his store and Building. He continued to
invest his money in the way of loans, mortgages
and investments. Not all his investments were as
secure and profitable and he would have hoped for.
Upon his death in April of 1999 between capital
gains poor legal advice and poor investments Bruce's
holding dwindled significantly. Bruce was a bachelor
all his life leaving no dependents. Bruce wished
that his estate be turned into an Educational Trust
for the children [and their descendants] of his
many nieces and nephews.
